A wonderful response to the typical damsel in distress trope that is given to female video game characters. There is really a ton of value to those characters and to women, in general, who really hold way more value themselves than they give themselves credit for.
Sarah, also known as Kite Tales on Twitter and Youtube, goes into detail about the importance of female characters in video games. Sarah specifically references characters Zelda and Princess Peach in response to Anita Sarkeesian’s Damsel in Distress, Part 1 video, in which she points out the importance of the characters to their respective kingdoms being more prevalent than their importance to the main male protagonist.
Sarah also makes a compelling argument about video games reviews, development and criticism. She elegantly makes a case for providing an unbiased approach to said reviews or arguments.
Often, it seems, personal bias can get in the way of effective criticism of these characters. Give it a listen.
